Welcome to the online food safety training for farm workers. While the training was originally created for student workers on university farms, the information applies to all produce farm workers. This training educates workers on safe food production handling. It teaches identification of biological, physical, and chemical hazards within the field.
Through these videos, workers will learn different prevention strategies to help reduce or eliminate risks from occurring. Quizzes are available to use for additional interaction. Additional activities and case studies are provided to assist with further identifying hazards associated with produce. A resource manual is also available on the website to provide farm managers more in-depth information.
Please note that farm instructors should complete a full length, nationally-approved Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) short course training or the PSA Grower Training. Instructors should be fully knowledgeable about how to minimize food safety risks within the field.
If you have further questions about this training, please e-mail us at IowaFSMA@iastate.edu.
